To really enjoy this festival, music should be so vibrant that those who dance to the tune do not pay any attention to the singers. They are interested in the right music and rhythm and are so engrossed in raas/garbas that they do not even notice the presence of live-singers. This in mind, we played garba music CDs in our newly purchased PA System. The advantage was that everyone had the opportunity of listening to a variety of tunes. They all liked it! |
VCSL celebrated the Navratri festival during the nights of Friday 3rd October and Saturday 4th October and the afternoon of Sunday 5th October 2008. As always, we start the programme with Hingraj Mataji’s aarti and conclude with Aambe Mataji’s aarti. In between, all those, young and elderly who had attended, had a very joyful time dancing and singing mataji’s raas and garbas. There was never a shortage of space for anyone to try ‘Vanza-style’ garbas and dandias! Yes, an indication, we should not forget our own unique style that we proudly exhibit during Navratri festival since the time most of us were in East Africa. |
VCSL is very proud in managing these festival with such feeling of warmth and family oriented spirit. We also had prize giving events on those three days, for: 1) Best Garba performer. 2) Best Dandia performer and 3) Best and impressive traditionally dressed person. |
