On arrival of our Vanza bandhus and their friends, delicious food was served to all who then gathered in the function hall of The Archbishop Lanfranc School, Croydon. To complete our 15th anniversary celebrations, our programme commenced with chanting of Hanuman Chalisa. Lead by professional bhajan singers, we all joined them in chanting the Chalisa with 15 variety tunes and ‘ragas’ which made it very interesting for the devotees.
This was followed by the ‘Hingraj Maa ni Aarti’. On this occasion, the honour was given to Shree Jayantibhai Gangji Bhundia and Shree Harishbhai Mulji Gohil and their respective families to lead the Aarti. Our Vice Chairman, Shree Purshottambhai Arjan Jethwa then welcomed all who were present and briefly narrated the history behind the holding of the Samuh Bhajans programme by VCSL. The various announcements were made and the vote of thanks was proposed by our secretary, Suchetaben Dinesh Samant.
The bhajan group organised by Ashwinbhai Joshi, a very well known member of the musical circle, started with ‘Dhoon’ to lure every one into that mood to listen to the special bhajans in memory of all our beloved who have departed from us. ‘Lotty Utsav’ was enjoyed by all with most joining in taking part in traditional dances/garbas. To end the programme, a Samuh Aarti was performed with peace and harmony.
Our guests were delighted with the warm reception given to them. They said that the food was excellent, decorations in the foyer and the main hall were very artistic and that the programme was well organised. Of course, there were a few hic-ups but they were entirely due to certain unavoidable circumstances. Although there was a delay at the beginning, the function ended in time. |
